I saw an article online today listing the TV series that have been canceled for next year. I have an abysmal record of liking shows that end up getting canceled, so it wasn’t a surprise that I watched nine shows on the list:

Moonlight (the one I’m mourning the most)
Men in Trees (I’m just going to firmly believe that Patrick and Annie would have gotten back together.)
Jericho
Back to You (I thought Kelsey Grammar and Patricia Heaton were funny, but I guess not enough other people did.)
K-Ville  (no more Cole Hauser, sniff)
New Amsterdam
Life is Wild
Bionic Woman (Poor Will Yun Lee keeps getting cast in shows I like but which are canceled; he was in Witchblade too.)
Journeyman

This list didn’t even include Blood Ties (which I’m also mourning; come on, leave me ONE vampire show), which had been previously canceled.

I wonder which new shows in the fall I’ll like and thus be the kiss of death for.

As this year’s shows wind down with finales, my TiVo’s to-do list was getting pretty short. (I think the only things still on it are LOST, Battlestar Galactica, Deadliest Catch and The Alaska Experiment.) So I went through today and scheduled some movies I hadn’t seen. Maybe I’ll have time to watch them after I meet my YA outline deadline the first week of June. I still haven’t gone to see Prince Caspian either. Maybe I’ll do that on my birthday or as a treat after I meet my deadline.

Luckily my choice in friends is more successful than my choice in shows, including the fabulous Beth Pattillo. She’s guesting over at the Romance Bandits today in celebration of the release of her new book, The Sweetgum Knit Lit Society, this week. Swing by and say, “Hi.” She’s giving away a copy of the book to one lucky person.

Ack, MEN IN TREES was cancelled?? What???

Trish, you just ruined my day. I think that was my fav show of the year.

    Wahhhhhhhhh.

I watched Jericho the first year, but couldn’t get into it this year.

    So it’s YOUR fault! *grin*

Don’t feel bad. I seem to have the Good TV Show Magic Touch of Doom as well. Wonderfalls, Firefly, Dark Angel (although that one actually got two seasons!).

  3. Trish says:

Sorry to ruin your day, Cindy. Doesn’t that suck? No more Cash, no resolution for Patrick and Annie.

LOL, Mel. I’m so with you there on Firefly. Smoke still comes out of my ears about that cancellation. I was a Dark Angel fan too.

And they kept ‘Til Death, which had millions fewer viewers than Back to You! But the two leads got too much money, is what I heard, made the show not cost effective for the rating it was getting. :(

I’m sad about New Amsterdam, but I’m happy that Life is coming back next year. I love Damien Lewis.

I have to say that now I’m a tiny bit glad I don’t watch more TV–I’m sure I’d get hooked on something and then they’d pull the rug out from under! Argh! Hooray for books!

  7. TanyaMic says:

I feel your pain, Trish! But at least we have Dollhouse to look forward in the next television year.

    Tanya, determined to think positive

  8. Mary says:

We may have to ask you to stop watching Supernatural….

Almost all my shows are on the cusp - Friday Night Lights is always questionable, as is Supernatural.

Of course, I also like Grey’s Anatomy and NCIS, big hits.

  9. Lee McKenzie says:

Trish, I LOVE Men in Trees and am so disappointed it won’t be back for another season. However, the series isn’t over yet! The last four episodes of season two will be aired, starting this Wednesday.
