I’m working on stuff for my rodeo continuity story for Harlequin American today, so here’s a bit of fun to keep you occupied for a couple of minutes. Just plug your birth date into this site, and it’ll generate all kinds of interesting information. March 29th, 2009
After two weeks of travel for business and vacation and then the past week of having the respiratory crud, my to-do list has been approaching scary lengths. The good news is that I finished up my book that’s due April 1 yesterday and am in the process of polishing it up to turn in to my editor. The plan is for it to be on its lovely way tomorrow so that I can get to the rest of the things on the scary list: 1. Revise synopsis for continuity book after reading all the unread e-mails on that loop. Then turn it back in. March 26th, 2009
I’m back from California (as of Tuesday), and I brought back a respiratory infection with me. Oh boy! Headed to see my doctor in a few minutes. Always fun to sit in a waiting room full of other sick people. Hopefully, he can give me something to knock this crud out and allow me to get some rest. I do, after all, have a good due in six days! I’m blogging at Supernatural Sisters today about whether love is in the cards for the Winchester boys. Come check it out and tell me what you think. March 17th, 2009
I’ve decided I could be a California girl — if not for how expensive it is to live here. Last summer, I thoroughly enjoyed my time in and around San Francisco. And now I’m loving my time in the San Diego area. It’s beautiful, I’m near the ocean, it’s pleasantly warm, gorgeous flowers are blooming everywhere…ah, what’s not to like? Okay, so I know they have earthquakes and wildfires here, but when neither of those things is going on, it’s darn near perfect. I’m off to Sea World with the sis and her family tomorrow. Guess I should get some sleep — going to be a long day. We’ll also hit the famous zoo this week and a few other things. March 11th, 2009
It’s been awhile since I’ve had the opportunity to blog about TV viewing, so I thought I’d talk about the new show Castle, which debuted Monday night. I was looking forward to this mainly because it stars Nathan Fillion, and I think he’s a complete hoot. He plays a mystery novelist who initially helps with a case and then decides he wants to tag along with the determined female detective because he wants to do research on a new character based on her. Of course, there is tension and witty banter galore. I loved how Fillion brought his trademark style (great one-liners) to the character, but it’s still different from his Captain Mal days on Firefly and Serenity. For one thing, he has a teenage daughtere and a mom who is all over the “graydar” dating pool. For the record, Fillion is like this in person too. I met him briefly and went to his panels at Dragon*Con last year, and he and the other Firefly cast members there kept everyone laughing. I’m really glad to see him with another starring role, and I’m liking the casting of Stana Kanic opposite him. There were a few cliched parts, but overall it was a solid pilot. Sometimes it takes actors awhile to build the chemistry between them, but I’m already seeing it in Fillion and Stanic. I’m looking forward to seeing what future episodes have in store. Anyone else see it? What did you think? March 10th, 2009
The weather is finally gorgeous here, so I took the opportunity to work on the travel part of an article I’m doing for the magazine I write for part time. It’s a travel piece about driving along one of the highways that crosses the state, one of the main east-west routes in the pre-interstate days. I loved seeing the blooming forsythia and Bradford pear trees, the hundreds of yellow daffodils and the first sprigs of green. But the one thing that made me chuckle out loud was the name of a business I passed in one of the little towns. I kid you not, it was called Redneck Bail Bonds. LOL! Got my RITA scores turned in yesterday, so next up is writing on the next Harlequin American, which is due April 1. March 9th, 2009
It’s my day to blog over at Supernatural Sisters, and I’m talking about how the show’s writers are portraying angels this season. Check it out. March 6th, 2009
I mentioned that I had lots to get done before Monday, and yesterday I got my revisions on my second YA finished and back to my editor. Whew! Now I just have to finish reading my RITA entries and giving those scores over the weekend. Today is my blog day over at Supernatural Sisters, so swing by if you have the chance. March 3rd, 2009
I’ve been up to my eyeballs in revisions lately, for my second YA novel, Ice and Desire. I like how they’re coming, and I’m beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Hopefully, I can send them to my editor by the end of the week. Since I’m headed to California a week from today, I’ve got a lot to get done between now and then: 1. Finish the Ice and Desire revisions While I’m working on all that, I thought I’d share a fun fan video I found recently, for one of the shows I enjoy, Legend of the Seeker. The video is about Kahlen and Richard’s relationship, and it includes a verra nice kiss. Plus, I like the Hinder song it’s set to.
